US
Butterfly Hope Foundation was formed on the 22nd of November 2020, to support children living in vulnerable communities in Sri Lanka. We are registered as a charitable organization with the Registrar of Companies where all proceeds raised are used to further the objectives of the charity. Our board of directors comprise of individuals from multiple disciplines who are in full time employment. Our projects are run with the help of volunteers, and we have no salaried staff. Our accounts are audited annually since inception and filed with the Registrar of Companies complying with the applicable statutory obligations.
Our Story.
Butterfly Hope Foundation is a children’s charity based in Sri Lanka, focusing on the welfare of children from disadvantaged communities, who are orphaned or sick. The inception of Butterfly Hope Foundation goes back to 2010, when our founder Saumi, started organising an annual fun event for children at the National Cancer Hospital Maharagama, to cheer them up by distributing gifts and hosting a magic show. In 2020, Butterfly Hope Foundation was formally established so we can spread our wings far and wide to reach more children.
Even though we have been operating for a short time we have touched the lives of many children. So far we have supported many children, by providing school supplies, clothes, medicine and food hampers directly to the children and their families. In addition, we have supported their education by supporting schools with infrastructure, establishing libraries, providing musical instruments and sports equipment.
We support children living in orphanages, with the aim to create spaces that support their mental and physical wellbeing. We have renovated three orphanages, and have provided outdoor play equipment, musical instruments and a small library.
Butterfly Hope Foundation is made up of a small group of volunteers. We do not have salaried employees, yet we have been able to achieve a lot in the past couple of years due to the sheer commitment of our founders, volunteers and our donors who have always come forward to support our initiatives. Our aim is to reach many more children through our activities and expand our work to find scholarships for children in these disadvantaged communities. We believe that a little effort from each of us will enable Butterfly Hope Foundation to help more children, and ask you to join our journey to touch their little lives and bring a smile to their faces.
Our Mission.
To uplift the quality of life of children from less fortunate families and children who are left orphaned and destitute or with poor family support.
To protect and promote the interests, rights and privileges of children of less fortunate families and orphans.
To assist hospitals, care centers and other institutions that take care of the medical, emotional and other needs of children who are sick and to extend support to families with little or no financial support and having children with terminal or disabling illnesses.
To assist communities with disadvantaged children where the existing infrastructure and facilities or the lack of it is having an undesirable or negative impact on the quality of life of those children.
